quantilope surveyed 400 parents in the UK with a child under the age of 18 to understand how they are preparing to send their child(ren) back to school this fall despite inflation's rising costs of goods.

This study is part of quantilope's new series of mini studies aiming to capture quick, relevant insights among timely topics or events.

This quantilope mini study found that 57% of parents plan to shop second-hand for back-to-school items such as clothes, accessories, supplies, etc., to save money. To further save money, 77% report cutting back their spending in other areas to get their kids ready to head back to school.

When probed further on which particular areas these parents are cutting back spending in, categories such as 'days out', 'vacations/travel', 'dining out', 'meal takeaway', 'entertainment', 'food shopping/groceries', 'alcoholic drinks', 'clothing/shoes', and 'stationary' were among the top-mentioned areas.
